Frequently Asked Questions

Dogs must have had at least their 1st vaccine, if vaccinated for Kennel Cough you wont be able to attend for 3 weeks after the vaccine has been adminstered (this is because it is a live vaccnine so gives your dog KC to allow them to build antibodies to the virus). Dogs must be sociable around other dogs, if you aren't sure if your dog would be suitable for a class or playgroup session please call us to chat

The classes will be limited to 6 dogs per group to ensure proper attention is given to each dog/owner and you achieve your training goals.

We offer 121 training for dogs with soclisation challenges, you would start with an assessment and then follow on with 121 training sessions.

Older dogs and puppies over the age of six months are more than welcome to join our classes, for the playgroups they would need an assessment first to ensure they will be ok within our playgroups. For classes they would also need an assessment to establish the right type of training to meet your needs.

Not at all! Older dogs may take longer to learn the skills you want, however every dog can still learn, no matter how old they are. It may just be at your dogs pace rather than yours :-)

Training success is dependant on the time you, as the owner, can put into your dog. If you only train a few minutes each week, you probably won't see much benefit. However if you follow our guidance and are consistent with your dog then you will most certainly get what you are looking for from the training.

For classes and 121 sessions it is fine to continue to attend training whilst your dog is in season, this is because all sessions are controlled and on lead. If off lead then only one dog will be off lead at any given time. For playgroup sessions, you won't be able to attend sessions while your dog is in season, please make sure they have completely finished their season before returning and that you have bathed them to remove the smell.

For classes and 121 sessions it is fine to continue to attend training whilst your dog is recovering from their neuter (though they will likely need 48hours to recover from the general anaesthetic), this is because all sessions are controlled and your dog can always work to their capabilities.  For playgroup sessions, you won't be able to attend sessions while your dog is recovering from their neuter.

For playgroups we are unable to accept intact males over the age of 6 months, this is due to the increased risk of fights when intact males are together. For classes intact males are welcome providing they are not disruptive to the session. We can provide 121 training sessions for intact males, if a class environment is not suited to them.

For classes and playgroup sessions, you wont be able to attend whilst your dog is ill, unless you have been given the OK from your vet to mix with other dogs. For 121 sessions it will depend on the illness, if it is contagious via the air, like Kennel Cough then you wont be able to attend training until your dog has completely recovered. If you are unsure, please call us to discuss on 07518 907710.
